SAAT Next Steps

Here are your next steps in your allergy treatment process to ensure everything goes smoothly. These are suggestions and everyone’s experience may be different. These suggestions pertain to food allergens only (including Alpha Gal).

After your 3-week treatment, it's important to wait for a few days before introducing the allergen back into your routine. A waiting period of up to a week is usually fine. Here’s how you should reintroduce the allergen in a controlled and gradual way:

1. First Phase (Days 1-3):

   - After your waiting period, for the first three days, introduce the allergen by simply touching a small amount of it (do not ingest it). Monitor your body's response during this phase.

2. Second Phase (Days 4-5):

   - After another two days of waiting, touch the allergen to your tongue or inside your mouth, but again, do not swallow or ingest the allergen. Keep an eye on any changes in your symptoms.

3. Third Phase (Days 6-8):

   - After another few days, ingest a small amount (about a teaspoon) of the allergen each day for 2-3 days. Continue to monitor your symptoms during this phase.

Throughout these steps, it's important to take note of your physical symptoms. If you experience a 90% or greater improvement, that’s fantastic, and you may be all set! However, if your improvement is less than 70%, you may want to consider repeating the SAAT treatment for more complete results.

Important Note: If you’ve experienced anaphylactic shock with this allergen in the past, please extend the wait times between each phase to 5-7 days, and be sure to take extra care as you reintroduce the allergen.
